The Bread for Life Diet
The Bread for Life Diet was devised by the Director of Nutrition at Sourasky Medical Centre in Tel Aviv, Olga Raz, who claims that bread can actually help you to lose up to 10lbs in two weeks. In her book, The Bread for Life Diet, she claims that due to bread's high carbohydrate levels it prompts the body to release a chemical called tryptophan, which helps to manufacture serotonin, a 'feel-good' chemical released into the brain. When this chemical is released, it actually discourages you to crave sugary snacks, and also prevents metabolism from slowing, in turn burning more calories than storing fat in the body.
Bread at last!
Until recently, bread has been a no-go for many dieters on a low carb diet, due to the amount of carbohydrate contained within, so this diet makes a refreshing change for many Atkins Dieters.
Alcohol not allowed
As with many diets plans, alcohol is on the list of banned foods.
Wholegrain Light Bread
Unfortunately, you can't go mad on spreads to cover the bread, and the type of bread you choose is very important to the success of the diet. Nimble, the wholegrain light bread is the most recommended, and others that are on the list of 'acceptables' are:
Pitta Bread (4 slices per day)
Tortilla Wraps (4 per day)
Taco Shell (1.5 per day)
Hotdog Roll (3 per day)
Hamburger bun (3 per day)
Bagel (4 per day)
