The Rosedale Diet
Devised by anti-ageing and nutritional expert Dr Ron Rosedale in the US, the Rosedale Diet is one of the newest A-list celebrity diets that is doing the rounds. In his dieting plan, Dr Rosedale claims that most of our leptin levels are too high, which causes our bodies to store fat, rather than burn it.
Low Carb Diet?
Sounding familiar to many low-carb diets, his plan claims to flick the hunger switch back to normal by encouraging dieters to eat half of their daily calories consisting of food that is high in healthy fats, and low in carbohydrates, sugar, starch and saturates, including such foods as oily fish, olives, and nuts.
Carb-High Foods Banned
Foods high in carbohydrates are strictly banned in the first few weeks of the diet, especially rice, pasta, bread, grain and potatoes. Other food to avoid include full fat cheese, dairy food, fried food and interestingly, fruit, which is naturally high in fructose.
Starchy Foods Allowed
However, unlike low-carbohydrate diet plans, other non-starchy foods containing carbohydrates are allowed on this diet, such as peppers, cucumber, brocolli, courgette, mushrooms and onions, which are high in fibre.
